April 29th, 2024 1:28 pm     A+ | a-
On April 23, 2024, the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) made amendments to O. Reg. 406/19: On-Site and Excess Soil Management (Excess Soil Regulation), and the Rules for Soil Management and Excess Soil Quality Standards (Soil Rules).

These amendments are now in effect.

To find out more information, please see decision notice #019-7636 on the Environmental Registry of Ontario.

This latest regulatory amendment continues the Ministry’s work on improving the ability of industry to reuse leftover soil from housing and infrastructure sites, while protecting the environment and working to stop illegal dumping of potentially contaminated soil.

MECP held two public webinars at the end of May to provide information on the amendments made to the Excess Soil Regulation and Soil Rules.
